Rosmarie von Trapp served in overseas missions before retiring to Stowe where she is an active member of the local Catholic community, while Eleonore, a cheery and vivacious lady, married her American husband in 1954 and had seven daughters! The youngest Trapp child, Johannes, has served as president of the Trapp house Lodge since 1969, and was married to one of the Lodge workers that same year. He and his wife, Lynn, have two children who live in close presence to them.

Over the years, the von Trapp house has received numerous awards and accolades, including a letter from President Lyndon B. Johnson, and the Golden embellishment of Honor from the state of Salzburg, seventy percent of whose tourists attribute their visit solely to The Sound of Music. Maria herself appeared on numerous television programs and received much fan mail, perhaps the most touching of which came from Mary Martin, Maria's Broadway counterpart who penned, "Dear Maria, One of the many joys of my life has been knowing you, playing you, and loving you."

Near the end of Maria's life, she was heard to say, "If God can do so much for the von Trapp family, He can surely do the same thing for you." When she passed away in March of 1987, she left behind a joyous inheritance of faith and house which has brought hope to millions of citizen all over the world.
